A notable pro bono is a case that was taken up by our very own Olola Aderemi Oguntoye, SAN in the State of Ondo. It involved a 15-year-old boy who was arrested as an accomplice on a charge of armed robbery.
An innocent boy was kept in a juvenile Home for more than a year with no appearance in court until Olola Aderemi, SAN heard his story and took up his case. Many trips from Lagos to Akure and months later, he was discharged and acquitted.
We witnessed the tears of joy on his father’s face knowing that if Olola. Aderemi, SAN had not stepped in, his son would most likely have remained locked up with no way out, his future uncertain and his life forever affected negatively.
This is just an example of one of the cases handled by Abigail Oguntoye Foundation. We have ensured that individuals who once stood helpless against wrongful accusations, unfair evictions, or exploitation have found hope and freedom through our Free Legal Aid Program.
Through our dedicated team of legal professionals, we have successfully defended individuals who had no means to fight for themselves. Many innocent people, trapped in legal battles for crimes they did not commit, have regained their freedom. Those who faced unjust treatment in the legal system have seen their cases rightfully dismissed, and others who suffered from prolonged pretrial detention have finally had their day in court.
But our commitment does not stop in the courtroom. We go beyond legal aid by offering mental health support, career opportunities, and reintegration assistance to ensure that those we help can rebuild their lives with dignity. The fight for justice is not just about legal victories, it is about restoring hope, dignity, and a future filled with possibilities.
Every case we win is a testament to our belief that justice should never be a privilege, it should be a right for all.
